Changes in lockdown likely; TN Chief Minister convenes urgent meeting to review COVID-19 situation

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy held an urgent meeting with Deputy CM to review COVID-19 situation


Coimbatore: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswamy along with his cabinet’s Deputy CM O Paneerselvam convened an urgent yet unannounced meet today at Tamil Nadu Secretariat, in line with the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state.

In a meeting attended by State’s Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan and health department officials, it is told that the state has seen an increase in cases in the last seven days.

The state recorded a 6.3% increase in fresh cases in the last seven days. However, the health department in its report stated that Tamil Nadu has seen a steep increase in cases after seven months.

Over six thousand cases have been recorded in the last few months and it was reported at the meeting today. The urgent meeting was conducted at Namakkal Kavignar hall in the Secretariat building.

However, it is expected that the Tamil Nadu government might further bring on changes in the lockdown guidelines. Further, it is hinted that there might be changes in the shifts to operate TASMASC shops and other organizations.

More information about this meeting and the COVID-19 regulations are likely to be released by the Health Department shortly.
