The attack on Hindu Munnani member in Coimbatore has caused panic among the public
Coimbatore: Earlier this week, the Vice President of Ukkadam Hindu Mummani Ramakrishnan was attacked by unidentified men. This has created panic among people and the Hindu Munnani members have filed cases to conduct investigations. Following this, a newly appointed special team is conducting intensive investigation and vehicle inspection to catch the attackers.
Ramakrishnan (37), is from Thayammal layout in Podanur, Coimbatore. The night before yesterday, while travelling near the Sundarapuram Sangam Road junction, two men who came on the bike, struck him in the skull with an iron rod from behind. Immediately, the injured Ramakrishnan informed Murugesan, who was in the area, about the attack.
Murugesan rushed Ramakrishnan to the Coimbatore Government Hospital and informed the police. The police have examined the CCTV camera footage near and found that two who attacked Ramakrishnan went towards Pollachi Road via Sangam Road. Hence, the police have placed personnel for security at key locations in the city.
Bomb detection unit police in Sundarapuram, with the help of sniffer dogs, raided suspicious vehicles yesterday morning. Hindu organizations are engaged in road roko in front of the District Collector's office.
Hindu Munnani state president Kadaeswara Subramaniam was also present at the location. They dispersed after the Deputy Commissioner of police Stalin promised to arrest the culprits soon.
