"Sexual harassment against women must be suppressed with iron fists," - panelists speak at Indian Bank Female Employees Special Conference today in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore:The 18th State Conference of the Indian Bank Employees Union - Tamil Nadu started on Saturday at the RS Puram Rajasthani Sangam Arena, Coimbatore. The first event of the two-day conference was a special meet attended by female bank employees. M. Kirija, Joint Secretary, All India Insurance Employees Union, inaugurated the conference which was chaired by BS Anandi, Vice President of the Union.
They discussed women-related issues taking place in offices, travel time and in families. At the meet, A. Radhika, State Secretary of the All India Democratic Mather's Association and other panelists debated on women safety and issues. The General Secretary of the Association K. Krishnan moderated the debate and also concluded.
The discussions put forth points like how government should take steps with an iron fist to prevent sexual crimes against women and girls. A sexual harassment committee (visa) should be set up in places where women work. The conference also condemned the denial of legal rights to women in working offices and passed resolutions including that bank managements must ensure that legal rights are granted.
To conclude the conference today, Jyoti Bharti, the organizer of the Bank Female Employees Union, thanked the panelists. The General Secretary of the Bank of India Employees' Federation Thebashisbasu Chaudhary, Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan, the General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Bank Employees' Federation N. Rajagopal and the General Secretary of the Indian Bank Employees' Association K. Krishnan addressed the public meeting.
The conference is scheduled to conclude on Sunday with sessions on various resolutions and the selection of new executives.
