Madurai Veeran Temple in Valparai commemorates its 67th year with Annadanam and spectacular ceremony

The Madurai Veeran Temple in Valparai is celebrating its 67th annual festival this year with Anndanam and a spectacular ceremony.


Coimbatore: The Kakkan Colony situated in the central part of Valparai in Coimbatore District is home to the famous Madurai Veeran Temple which is celebrating its 67th annual festival this year.

The festival at the temple kickstarted with a flag hoisting ceremony on Friday last week, which was then followed by various other customs and ceremonies, every day of the week.

The entire area from Kakkan Colony till Market area was lit with electric lights ahead of the temple festival. The Thirukalyanam ceremony took place on Thursday, followed by the Annadanam today.



Later, the Madurai Veeran deity was taken on a procession on a chariot with goddesses Bommiammal and Vellaiammal with Chenda Melam and other musical instruments via the New Bus Stand, Stan Moore Junction, Gandhi Statue Complex, Old Bus stand and New Market area and back to the temple.



Pilgrims and devotees participated in other rituals and danced during the ceremonies being held as part of the temple festival.
