Around 31 people were recorded as COVID-19 infected in just one day in Pollachi. which has been recorded as the highest thus far.
Coimbatore: During the pandemic situation last year, Pollachi recorded a maximum of 15 cases in one day which has spiked now to 31 cases in one day, the highest recorded thus far amidst the second wave that is sweeping across the nation.
Pollachi has recorded 8 cases on Wednesday, 16 cases on Thursday and 31 cases on Friday.
Around 11 cases have been recorded with the Pollachi municipality and 10 cases in the areas of Makinampatti, Vanjiyapuram, Chinnampalayam and Chinjuvadi. In the North Zone of Puliyampatti and Thippampatti areas, 5 cases have been recorded. Another 5 cases have been recorded at the Anamalai and Pethanaickenur areas, thus totalling to 31 people.
Covid-19 cases have been spiking at double the rate owing to the fact that only very few people follow the guidelines stipulated by the district administration with many commuting and going about their daily chores without even wearing proper masks.
It is reported that officials in Pollachi are of the opinion that they would find it very difficult to control the second wave of COVID-19 if the public do not cooperate and comply with social distancing and wearing of face masks, along with other stipulated guidelines to prevent COVID-19 infection.
