Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian inspects measures to combat second wave of COVID-19 in various areas in Coimbatore. Fine imposed on shop owners and public who did not comply with Covid-19 protocols.


Coimbatore: Corporation Officials in Coimbatore have undertaken various measures to curb the second wave of COVID-19 in the district. To oversee the ongoing process, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian conducted an inspection on Friday, along with other officials.



The Corporation Commissioner inspected the flower market on Mettupalayam Road in the Western Zone. During the visit, Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian levied Rs. 200 fine on 12 people who did not wear the stipulated face masks.



Later, during the inspection of the Race Course area, Kumaravel Pandian imposed a fine on a bakery with Rs. 5,400 who did not follow social distancing and wearing of face masks. Another shop was charged with Rs. 5,000 for violating safety rules to avoid COVID-19 infection.

Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian also fined two commuters with Rs. 200 per person for not wearing face masks. He also advicied and urged locals to follow strictly the Covid-19 guidelines that have been stipulated to prevent COVID-19 infection amidst the second wave that has hit the nation.

West Zone Assistant Commissioner Sundaraj, Zonal Assistant Engineer Kamalakannan, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran and various other officials were present during the inspection.
