Coimbatore: Siruvani Dam is located in the Palakkad district, Kerala. It has beenthe preferred source of water for the people of Coimbatore. Siruvani water is being supplied to many villages and 36 wards in Coimbatore Corporation.
The Siruvani Dam has an area of 22.47 sq kms with a height of 49.53 ft. This dam is 878.5 mts above the sea level with a total capacity of 659 million cubic metres.
Water level at the dam is on a decline and has reached 22.96 ft due to the scarce rainfall and early start of summer since March in the area.
Corporation officials said "On behalf of Coimbatore Corporation, 75.33 MLT of water is being taken for drinking purposes. Water shortage won't be an issue and people need not be worried."
