Coimbatore: Most paramilitary forces who had arrived in Coimbatore for election security reinforcement left for their respective states by train. A few of the troops remain for three-tier security at the GCT campus to guard EVMs and VVPATs.
With all election security duty being completed on Wednesday which included all EVMs and VVPATs being sealed in the security room, the paramilitary forces left on trains bound for their hometowns.
The paramilitary forces had arrived in Coimbatore to beef up security in Coimbatore district during the Assembly elections, also participated in flag parades.
With elections having drawn to a close in a peaceful manner, the EVMs and VVPATs were taken to GCT campus on Thadagam Road where three layers of security were in place. Some of the armed paramilitaries are stationed in the first ring. For this purpose, paramilitaries are deployed in rotation. Once the ballot count is done, the remaining paramilitary forces stationed in Coimbatore will also leave.
