The state government of Tamil Nadu has announced fresh restrictions on Thursday in the wake of surge in COVID-19 cases, which will come into effect from April 10. The announcement comes in the wake of a few other states announcing night lockdowns citing surge in fresh COVID-19 cases.
The Government has banned all religious gatherings and festivals with effect from April 10, across the state. Keeping in mind the surge in cases due to the Koyambedu cluster, the Government has also imposed restrictions on small traders at Koyambedu market.
As part of the restrictions, only seating capacity of passengers are allowed and no passengers are allowed to travel standing in all public transport. Only three people will be allowed to travel in cabs while the number of passengers allowed in autos have been reduced to two. However, the Government has also mandated E-pass for inter-state passengers and international passengers.
Only 50 percent customers are allowed inside vegetable and grocery shops. Tea shops, restaurants, large shops, showrooms and theatres have been instructed to limit the crowds.
As many as 200 people are allowed for educational, political, social, cultural, sports indoor meetings/ events, while only 100 people are allowed for marriage functions and 50 for funerals.
