Farmers seize 3 tipper trucks dumping Kerala waste in Semanampathy area near Pollachi.
Coimbatore: Farmers were informed that a large quantity of waste was being dumped from the Palakkad district of Kerala at the farm of Anthony Jose, a native of Kerala, in the area of Irattaimadai in the village of Semanampathy on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border near Pollachi.
Unidentified persons dug a pit with a poclain machine and dumped the waste brought in 3 tipper trucks this morning. Those persons escaped when the farmers who went there captured and interrogated them.
After informing the police and revenue officials, the officers went there and seized the lorries and the poclain machine and are looking for Anthony Jose, a plantation owner from the state of Kerala.
The farmers complained that the public were suffering due to the frequent dumping of such waste from Kerala and dumping it on agricultural lands. The police check posts at the Kerala border were not being properly monitored.
