Police file case against more than 200 members of AIADMK and DMK parties for violating rules in recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: In the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 6, Thondamuthur constituency's DMK candidate, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy had visited the Corporation Primary School polling station in Selvapuram area, along with his supporters.
At that moment, a large crowd of AIADMK candidates along with ally supporters reportedly gheraoed the DMK candidate and attacked him and his supporters. A clash erupted between the members of both parties.
The police officials on duty had to intervene to pacify the crowd and ensure the safety of the DMK candidate. Later, Sub Inspector Halan who was stationed at the area during this incident filed a complaint at the Selvapuram police station.
The police have filed charges on more than 200 members from DMK and AIADMK parties under various sections which include not letting government officials to perform their duty as well asgathering in crowds which are in violation of election rules. Police officials are further investigating about this incident.
