Coimbatore: Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan releases a thank you note after the 16th state assembly elections. This was Kamal Haasan's electoral debut.
"There was 72% turnout in Tamil Nadu's 16th Assembly elections even in such a terrible situation. This shows the people's dedication towards the nation and also shows their belief in Democracy. This also adds responsibility to the politicians,” he said.
Kamal also said, “Congratulations Tamil Nadu. As a Democrat, I want the elections to be a 100% turnout. We must be in a place where our participation in the upcoming elections should be even better.”
His release also said, “My heartfelt thanks to all those who joined hands with me in this election, including members of the Makkal Needhi Maiam, members of allied parties, friends, well-wishers, fellow contestants, voters, the Election Commission, journalists and media officers, police officials, government officers and sanitation workers.”
To continue, he said, “Elections are not the end, they are not the end of the people's work. According to me, this election is a new beginning for me and my party. We have learned and had a lot of experiences. Our foremost lesson is that there is no greater strength than thr love of the public.”
Kamal Haasan also said, “Reviving Tamil Nadu is not just political agenda but a joint ambition. There is not even the slightest deviation in the path and journey towards it. We will stand on the field as we do today to protect the soil, the language and the people."
