Coimbatore: Tea is grown at around 50,000 acres across the hills of Valparai in Coimbatore District. To increase the growth of tea plantations and to double the produce, Gawath method is undertaken every once in 5 years.

Further, the plantations are given a coating of limestone solution to avoid any growths of algae.
A lot of workers are involved in this process to speed up the Gawath method.
