Actress Radhika and husband Sarathkumar sentenced to 1 year jail term for cheque fraud

Actress Radhika and her husband Actor Sarathkumar have been sentenced to one year in prison each by a verdict passed for 7 cases regarding a cheque fraud.


Chennai: Actress Radhika and her husband Actor Sarathkumar have been sentenced to one year in prison each by a verdict passed for 7 cases regarding a cheque fraud. The judgment has been passed by a special court in Chennai which handles cases for MLA’s and MPs.

Actor Sarathkumar and his wife Radhika Sarathkumar are partners at the Magic Frames and Radan Media Group. They had borrowed Rs 2 crore from Radiance Media in 2014 to produce a film. A total of 7 checks were issued for this. In this, a cheque bounced due to lack of funds.

Following this, 7 criminal cases were filed against Actor Sarathkumar, Actress Radhika Sarathkumar and partner Stephen at the Saidapet court on behalf of Radan.

A petition was filed in the High Court on behalf of Actor Sarathkumar and Actress Radhika Sarathkumar seeking dismissal of the case but the High Court denied their request.

The High Court also directed that the trial to happen at the 3rd speed court in Saidapet and requested it to be completed within 6 months.

Under these circumstances, the case came up for hearing in the Special Court for MLAs. The trial court today sentenced Actor Sarathkumar and Actress Radhika Sarathkumar to one year in jail each.

The special court has sentenced Sarathkumar to jail for one year for the 5 cases against him and one year for Radhika Sarathkumar and partner Stephen for the remaining two cases.

It is to be noted that Sarathkumar and Radhika Sarathkumar are the founder and chief executive of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, which took part in the 2021 elections along with MNM in alliance.
