Coimbatore: Mohammed Ashik (25), a resident of Rose Garden in Ukkadam who reached the Islamic Metric School polling booth was shocked to find that someone else had already voted in his name.
Ashik, pursuing Ph.D is a voter with serial number 150A in this polling booth immediately questioned the Presiding Officer there about the bogus voting. Ashik alleges that the Presiding Officer squarely laid the blame on Ashik.
“I asked the Presiding Officer about this bogus voting but the officer had no proper explanation to this but in turn asked me why I had arrived so late to vote. I was there at the booth around 11 am,” clarifies Ashik.
Upon the instructions of party members there, Ashik voted using another person’s EPIC number. However, Ashik is not happy or convinced that he had exercised his franchise in the right way. “Though I voted using another person's details, I was not convinced and could not get over it. This is not fair in the largest democracy that India is,” he lamented.
When Ashik turned to the booth officer for help, Ashik alleges that he refused to answer his queries and asked Ashik to return to vote after sometime.
