Today, the state has granted a paid leave for employees considering state assembly elections. So, Karthik, a college student from Palani in Dindigul visited the Thirumoorthy Hills with his relatives after filing their votes.
Karthik and his family members who initially wanted to visit Panchalinga Falls were stopped because it was closed for tourists today.
Over there, the officials have prohibited visitors to go near Panjalinga Falls but Karthik proceeded to take a dip there. As he moved forward, Karthik who did not know how to swim drowned in the dam in the deep area.
Karthik's relatives on seeing this called people for help. Tribals who live in the area nearby tried to rescue Karthik but went in vain.

The Udumalaipet Fire and Rescue Department were informed about this incident who then arrived immediately and conducted a search looking for Karthik's body for more than 2 hours.

Officials after a long battle recovered Karthik's body and he was declared dead. Now, they have sent the corpse to the Udumalaipet Government Hospital for autopsy. The olice officials have filed a case regarding this incident and are conducting their investigation.
