Over an incident that happened today at the polling station, independent candidate Rahul Gandhi returned the congratulatory letter sent by Kamal Haasan to his fellow candidates contesting at the Coimbatore South constituency.
Coimbatore: The 2021 State Assembly polls took place across 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu today. Kamal Haasan, president of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party is contesting from the Coimbatore South constituency.
A few days back, Kamal Haasan wrote a congratulatory letter to his fellow candidate Rahul Gandhi. He is contesting under the Independent candidate category in Coimbatore South.
In the letter, Kamal Haasan wished him good luck ahead of the elections and also urged the candidate to join hands with him and work for the people.
Independent candidate Rahul Gandhi was very happy to see the letter and appreciated his approach. But earlier today, when Kamal Haasan visited the polling booths in Ramanathapuram, the independent candidate Rahul Gandhi met with the MNM leader.

Kamal greeted Rahul Gandhi but he left without shaking his hands. This has deeply caused distress to the candidate.
So, Candidate Rahul Gandhi who was worried about this said that "Kamal Haasan urged everyone to work together in his letter but when in person he did not even have the courtesy to wish his opponent contestants. So I am sending the letter back to him."
Rahul Gandhi has returned back the letter to Kamal Haasan.
