Public stage road protest at lack of buses plying to their hometown from Tirupur's New Bus Stand

Tirupur: Buses usually ply from the New Bus Stand area of Tirupur to various districts including Karur, Trichy, Madurai and Dindigul.

Many people living in Tirupur had reportedly planned to go back to their hometowns to cast their votes in today's Assembly elections. Over a 100 people arrived at the new bus stand in Tirupur since the early hours of morning awaiting buses to their hometowns.

Irate at the lack of buses, the waiting crowd staged a road blockade in front of the New Bus Stand since buses had not arrived for over five hours. With vehicles lined up on both sides of the roads owing to the road block, there was traffic congestion in the area.

Following this, the Tirupur North police negotiated with the protesting public to restore normalcy on the roads.
