Two voting machines are to be used in the three constituencies of Tirupur South, Palladam and Kangayam.
Tirupur: Ahead of TN State assembly elections tomorrow, the Election Commission has been distributing EVMs and other necessary documents to the polling stations across Tirupur.
The eight constituencies areTirupur District Tirupur North, Tirupur South, Avinashi (single constituency), Palladam, Kangayam, Dharapuram (single constituency), Udumalaipet and Madathukulam.
The Assembly elections are set to take place at 3343 polling stations in the 8 legislative constituencies here. A total of 14 candidates in Dharapuram constituency, 26 candidates in Kangayam constituency, 12 candidates in Avinashi constituency, 15 candidates in Tirupur North constituency, 20 candidates in Tirupur south, 20 candidates in Palladam, 15 candidates in Udumalaipet constituency and 15 candidates in Madathukulam constituency are contesting in the elections.
Overall there are 137 candidates contesting in the 8 constituencies in Tirupur.
It is informed that two voting machines are to be used in the three constituencies of Tirupur South, Palladam and Kangayam.
The Election Commission has also begun the work of sending the voting machines to the respective polling stations accompanied by tight security. More than 3500 officials including 1500 police personnel, 800 police personnel in the city zone, additional military personnel and village security are involved in the election security duty.
Apart from them, around 17,500 government officials are involved in election works across Tirupur District. Election requirements are being sent out by dividing them into 297 zones in Tirupur.
