Coimbatore: The 2021 Assembly elections are to be held tomorrow. Following this, the voters will be provided with disinfectants and gloves to prevent the spread of coronavirus at polling stations.
Election officials said, "When voters come to the polls, they will be given disinfectant first to wash their hands and when they go inside to cast votes, they will be provided with a glove."
They also said, "Voters have to wear it before casting their vote in the machine. Once done, gloves should be discarded in a separate dust bin. It will be later safely disposed of by the authorities. This measure is being taken as per the guidelines of the Election Commission to prevent the spread of coronavirus."
For this purpose, 2 persons have been appointed at each polling station in Coimbatore.
For Coimbatore, the District Collector Nagarajan was appointed as the Election Officer last week. Coimbatore district has a total of 10 assembly constituencies. There are 15,09,531 male, 15,52,799 female and 414 third gender voters making a total of 30,62,744 voters. 4427 polling booths have been set up in ten constituencies.
