Ramps have been set up at 4427 polling booths in Coimbatore district for the convenience of the disabled voters.
Coimbatore: Ramps have been set up at 4427 polling booths in the Coimbatore district for the convenience of disabled voters.The polling stations in Coimbatore have built platforms for disabled voters, as per the rules and instructions of the Election Commission of India.
There are 4427 polling stations in total now at the Coimbatore district and all the basic facilities including drinking water, electricity and toilets have been made available at the polling booths so that all the voters can come and vote without any hassle.
In view of the recent Covid-19 outbreak, additional polling stations have been set up in the district for booths with more than 1,050 voters.
Keeping in mind the summer weather, a temporary shade has also been created for disabled people to rest. In addition to this, ramps have been set up at all polling stations so that the elderly and the disabled can easily participate in the polls.
Wheelchairs can also be accessed at all polling stations by the District Electoral Officer. Through the Disabled People Welfare Officer, the necessary aids for elderly and disabled community like chairs have been sent to the polling booths.
