Man climbs up cell phone tower in Karanampettai; threatens suicide if not reunited with estranged wife.
Coimbatore: Gurusamy (48), a milk van driver was driving the van towards his company in Singanallur, on Saturday but suddenly stopped the van and climbed a 150 ft cell phone tower. On seeing this, people in the area informed the Peelamedu Fire and Rescue Department as well as police officials.
On arriving at the scene, the Fire and Rescue Department officers and police officials tried to persuade Gurusamy to climb down from the tower but Gurusamy refused and remained up for almost an hour. He then threatened the officials that he would commit suicide if they did not reunite him with his estranged wife.
Only after the police officials promised to unite Gurusamy with his wife did he climb down from the tower. This incident created a stir in the area. Cops have filed a case and are further investigating on the issue.
