ADMK’s MLA candidate P R G Arunkumar who is contesting from Kavundampalayam constituency for the upcoming assembly election has been booked by the city’s Crime Branch Police over a complaint from the opposition party DMK, for spreading derogatory comments on social media and sabotaging the image of its party candidate Payya Gounder.
The case was filed with the Crime Branch Sub Inspector, J Appathurai who then forwarded and took up the investigation after getting a nod from the District Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and election cell. The case has also been taken after the cognisance of the District Crime Branch court according to the FIR copy.
“Fake news and derogatory comments against the DMK MLA candidate was being spread on all social media by ADMK members and its candidate P R G Arunkumar to sabotage the image of our party candidate. I request you to please take action against the ADMK candidate P R G Arunkumar and disqualify him from contesting for the upcoming election as he has violated election norms,” stated the complaint filed by V Arul Kumar with the Crime Branch and District Election Officer.
Acting on the complaint, the Crime Branch cell has registered a case against the ADMK candidate P R G Arunkumar.
Meanwhile, V Arul Kumar who spoke to SimpliCity said the ADMK members led by P R G Arunkumar have been spreading fake allegations against DMK MLA candidate Payya Gounder for allegedly being involved in a land grabbing case.
“They are spreading fake news of our party candidate saying he was involved in land grabbing cases, which is not true. They must show us the proof if what they claim to be is true. They have tried their best to stop us from filing complaints and filing an FIR but the truth shall prevail,” said Arul Kumar.
