The Members of the Joint Action Committee of Construction and Unorganised workers hosted a meeting and expressed their full support to DMK party in the upcoming elections.
Coimbatore: The Members of the Joint Action Committee of Construction and Unorganised All Trade Unions hosted a meeting and expressed their full support toDravida Munnetra Kazhagam for accepting the demands of the construction and informal workers and for announcing various welfare schemes which empower their livelihood in DMK's election manifesto.
Murugesan, the Secretary of the Joint Action Committee of the Coimbatore District Construction and Unorganized All Trade Unions said, "After the demise of late AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK government has failed to look after the workers. As a result, the livelihood of the workers is completely affected. With this in mind, we petitioned the AIADMK government and the Leader of the Opposition, DMK leader MK Stalin for immediate action to improve the livelihoods of the workers."
He said that only DMK responded to their grievances. "No action has been taken by the AIADMK government. Announcements like setting up a welfare board for handloom workers and their families and allowances in case of accidental death were made by the AIADMK government. But it is already an established scheme from the year 2000 by former DMK leader Karunanidhi."
Murugesan commented that the AIADMK government's announcement to implement the same exact project is irrelevant. He also highly spoke about how DMK Stalin has ensured to look for workers welfare in their election manifesto.
"Not only construction workers but all unorganized workers, that is workers not included in the workers' provident fund scheme, will be benefited. Stalin has also promised to give building permission quickly without further delay. They have assured to bring approvals for complex, apartments and etcl, under one umbrella and we welcome this," he said.
Murugan mentioned that the schemes mentioned by DMK chief MK Stalin will help save the livelihood of the labours. "The Joint Action Committee ofConstruction and Unorganised workers have extended our support to DMK for towards to bring a change, he said."
