The Dean of CMCH, Nirmala clarified the reports of a child dying of the Coronavirus at the hospital on Thursday as fake news, stating that the baby had actually been suffering from Cardiomyopathy, a hereditary disease of the heart muscle and was rendered unable to cope up with the treatment. .
Karthik, a resident of Thirumuruganpoondi in Tirupur had admitted his one year old baby at CMCH and when the baby died on Thursday, rumours were rife even among media circles that the baby had died due to the Coronavirus. The baby was reportedly admitted to CMCH on March 24, 2021 with symptoms of fever.
But the Dean refuted saying that the baby had no fever symptoms but suffered cardiomyopathy. "it is a disease of the heart muscle which makes it hard for the heart to deliver blood flow to the body, leading to heart failure," reiterated the Dean.
Clarifying the rumours as baseless, Dean Nirmala spoke to SimpliCity stating, "I strongly disagree that the baby had died due to the Coronavirus. We have been treating the baby for cardiomyopathy but unfortunately the baby died. We have not witnessed any Covid symptoms in the baby and I strongly refute all such rumours as the cause of the baby's death."
