Coimbatore: Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, who is contesting in the Coimbatore South constituency, tweeted a while back on safeguarding peace in the Coimbatore district.
Yesterday, when Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited Coimbatore to support BJP Candidate Vanathi Srinivasan, he went on a procession with BJP and Hindu Munnani members from the Puliyakulam Vinayakar Temple in two-wheelers.
Due to the rally, that the police officials ordered the closure of shops in the Townhall area. As the procession passed the venue, both the groups chanted slogans and a clash erupted between the two sides. So the police officers were posted there to monitor the area now. Meanwhile, today around 8 PM, Kamal Hassan posted a video that shows the clash from yesterday and he was seen interacting with the shop owners from Townhall on Twitter.
His tweet read, "Let's defeat the riot specialists by unity. Coimbatore will be a peace park and I will be the guardian."
