The Election Commission has ordered for intense search and checks are being undertaken to prevent gift, cash and alcohol distribution in the poll-bound areas.
Coimbatore: The 2021 TN state assembly elections are to happen in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on April 6th. To conduct free and fair voting across the states, an extensive search is being conducted in Coimbatore near Tamil Nadu - Kerala border.
These checkpoints are located in Walayar, Mulli, Melpaviyur, Velandhapalayam, Veerapakavundapudur, Gopalapuram, Meenakshipuram, Valukuparai and Anaikatti.

An Election Official said, "Intensified searches are being undertaken in Palakkad, Thrissur and other border places. Random checks and surveillance are also undertaken in other areas in the city."
It is also said that additional checkpoints will be added to ensure there are no violations of the code of conduct in Coimbatore.
