Coimbatore: "The Congress south MLA candidate, Mayura Jayakumar vehemently condemned the assault by BJP workers on shops at city's Town Hall area saying that it was a planned activity upon the arrival of UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Yogi drew large crowds of BJP cadres at Coimbatore while campaigning for its MLA candidate Vanathi Srinivasan for the upcoming Assembly elections due on April 6.
A few shops at Town Hall were forced to down shutters on account of the huge BJP rally. "It is a planned activity and needs to be condemned," slammed Mayura Jayakumar while addressing the press during his campaign.
Visiting a shop owned by a Muslim which was forced to shut down, Mayura Jayakumar opined, "Coimbatore is a place where all religious people live and some BJP members are trying to spoil that. We should not give room for religious riots to happen in Coimbatore," he added.
