Construction Union expresses support to DMK alliance in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Anna Construction Union leader, Murugesan addressed the media on Wednesday saying, "The ruling BJP government at the Centre has been an anti-labour government. The state AIADMK government also does not listen to labour issues. Repeated petitions regarding problems in non-construction boards have not been resolved. Hence, it has been decided to vote for a coalition that would guarantee the betterment of the lives of NGO workers in the Assembly elections. According to an election statement issued by the DMK-led Mathasarbatra Murpokku Kootani, it is said that DMK leader M K Stalin will set up separate boards to overhaul and upgrade over 2 crore NGO Labour Welfare Boards. But the AIADMK election manifesto did not make any announcement to improve our livelihood. Also, there is no announcement to protect the welfare of workers or to encourage construction workers," he added.
"I have carried out various protests for the workers in the Anna trade union. But the AIADMK government is not interested in the welfare of workers. They did not reclaim the rights. Therefore, we will support DMK in the forthcoming Assembly elections on behalf of our Federation. The Anna union has 3 lakh registered workers in Coimbatore district. They have decided to support the DMK alliance," reiterated Murugesan.
