Box: Flying Squadron Details
Around 30 flying squadrons, 30 fixed surveillance teams and 20 video surveillance teams have been set up for cost monitoring across Coimbatore District. With the help of the C-Vigil application, the public can record complaints through video or photo which will be brought to the Election Commission. District Collector Rajamani said that appropriate actions will be taken on these complaints filed by the public.
21,500 employees involved in the election process
A total of 21,500 employees will be involved in the election process during the polls. A further 353 zones have been established and respective zonal officers have been appointed.
Voting machines
Around 5,523 control machines, 7,414 voting machines and 5,912 vivipad machines are ready to be used for elections in Coimbatore,
Postal voting
This election will feature senior voters over the age of 80, alternatives and voters living in the Covid-19 affected or protected area at the time of registration, will be able to cast their ballots by post of their choice. Special committees will be set up including revenue, health and polling officials.
From the 16th March onwards, these groups will complete Form 12D and submit it to the Returning Officer or Polling Officer to receive the postal vote.
Counting of votes
Voting counting is scheduled to take place on May 2 at the Government Engineering College, Thadagam Road, Coimbatore. Officials in Coimbatore have set up 10 counting centres for easy counting of votes.
