As the model code of conduct comes into effect from tomorrow, Coimbatore Smart City inauguration works were inaugurated today.
Coimbatore: Smart City Project in Coimbatore has been undertaken for the last 2-3 years. Under the project Smart City Parks have been set up at the 5 lakes in Coimbatore.
Ahead of yesterday's election announcement, the City Corporation Commissioner said the parks and ponds developed under Smart City Project will be available for public use as the election rules come into force from tomorrow.
The District Commissioner said that the Smart City Project was inaugurated in Coimbatore last year by Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy, under which the works were carried out in Periyakulam, Valankulam, Krishnampathy, Selvampathy, Kumaraswamy and Selvachinthamani ponds and which is opened for public use from today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian said that the park has been updated with facilities for walking, cycling along with children's play and requested the public’s help to keep the ponds clean.
He then said that this new update is a boon to the people of Coimbatore and also urged the public to enjoy the place and to help maintain the ecosystem of the pond.
