Differently-abled who travels 66km to college everyday seeks help

Coimbatore: Differently abled 1st year student of Coimbatore Government arts college who cannot walk is finding it very difficult to travel 66 KM every day.

Student R. Gokula Krishnan said, "I am residing at Sokkanur village which is 9 kilometres from Kinathukadavu. My father Ramaraj is working as a helper in a private company at Malumichampatti. Mother Bagyalakshmi is a home maker. My brother Harish is studying 11th std at government school near our village. I was born with walking disability.

In spite of the difficulty I was very much interested in studying. My family income is very less my parents motivated me to study. I have successfully completed my schooling and now I have joined B.Com(CA) at Government arts college, Coimbatore. My college timings are from afternoon 1:00 pm till evening5:00 pm. I have to travel 33 kilometres to college and again return back crossing 33 kilometres to reach back home. Due to my health condition i cannot board bus. At present my father is putting half a day leave for 4 days in a week and drop and pick me back from college."

He said, "I have applied to get two wheeler from government. But they have said it will take more than 2 months. That too they have said that it would be distributed on seniority basis only. Hence I don't know when they will distribute two Wheeler. My father is earning only less income. As the petrol prices are skyrocketing, he is finding it very difficult to drop and pick me back home. How long can he put half a day leave for 4 days in a week. Will that company management accept it. I am very confident boy.

But still at present the difficulty which i am facing is making me worry. I do not want to be a burden to anyone. If anyone helps me in getting two wheeler and bear petrol allowance till i finish my college. I would be grateful to them till the end. I am confident that i would successfully complete my college and after started earning i will give back the amount to the kind hearted who gives hand holding support now."
