Idol stolen by breaking into an Amman temple
Coimbatore: Idol has been stolen by breaking into an Amman temple causing a stir in Coimbatore.
Police are searching for an unidentified gang who broke into an Amman temple in Coimbatore's Gandhipuram area and stole an idol. Police said Karumari Amman temple is located in Kattoor, Coimbatore. The priest, who was on duty there, locked the temple last evening and went home. When he arrived at 8 a.m. todayto open the temple he found the lock of the temple was broken.
When he went inside, he saw that the idol placed there was missing. Shocked by this he informed the temple administration who immediately informed the Coimbatore Kattoor Crime Branch police. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were called and crime branch police rushed to the scene to investigate.
They are looking for the unidentified gang who stole the idol. The incident that took place in the early hours of the morning has caused a stir among devotees in the area.
