Kovai online media denied permission for PM ceremony: Made to go and forth for pass

Coimbatore:Kovai online media are made to go and fro for pass as they are denied permission for PM ceremony.

Sukumaran, a public relations officer, said journalists from the Kovai online media who went todayto ask for an identity card to attend the Indian Prime Minister's ceremony were not allowed to attend. Also, he has said, this was not their responsibility and it is provided on behalf of the City Police Department. He then questioned, "why did you collect the details of the journalists while giving the photo yesterday? Why was the COVID Test taken? Didn't they know beforehand that online media is not allowed?"

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurates a Rs 12,400 crore project at a state function in Coimbatore. He then speaks at a public meeting of the BJP party. The government program to be attended by the Prime Minister in Coimbatore is to be held at the CODISSIA premises in Coimbatore and a public meeting of the BJP is to be held at the ground outside CODISSIA.

It was informed that the permission given to the journalists for the government program could be obtained from the district spokesperson's office and from the BJP office for the public meeting. The BJP public relations on it part has also made a mess of the arrangements. Following this, Coimbatore district journalists submitted their vompany ID card and photos, Aadhar and were made to go to and fro to get the ID card. It was reported that journalists and cinematographers attending the public meeting can come to the specified place and get the pass.

The party alleged there was a lot of police harassment and abruptly said that they should come with two passport-size photos when they arrive at the Variety Hall police station. So, they were made to go and fro for giving photos and getting a pass. Yesterday, while the BJP had issued clearance passes for the BJP public meeting, the liaison officers went to the district spokesperson's office and when asked for the clearance passes for the government function they were given different answers by the officers.

Few officials said that only 50 journalists were allowed to attend the event, which was attended by Prime Minister Modi. Lunch and dinner are arranged only for them and that is why they have not been able to issue admission passes to other journalists as there will be food and reservation issues if more journalists come. Journalists have expressed anguish asking why food for journalists is becoming a major problem in the government program that is to launch projects worth crores of rupees. This last-minute confusion has caused a controversy among journalists.
