Coimbatore: C Balasubramanian, President of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore has issued a press release welcoming the interim state budget presented today by the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam.
In the press release, C Balasubramanian stated that “The interim budget announced on 23rd February contains a lot of welfare measures and allocations of funds to various departments.
We Coimbatorians especially welcome the Hon'ble Finance Minister’s decision towards allocating Rs 6683 crores for the Coimbatore Metro Rail Project. We thank Minister O Panneerselvam for this kind gesture. We also welcome the waiver of agriculture loans and allocation of Rs 5000 crore in the Budget for this purpose.
There are a lot of expectations among the trade and business community for job protection and support to the ailing MSMEs due to Covid-19, by way of additional moratorium for repayment of loan.
Our Chamber also welcomes the announcement made in the budget for the completion of the Athikadavu - Avinashi Scheme which is expected to be completed by December 2021. This will certainly improve the ground water recharge and supply of drinking water without any scarcity in the district.” He said.
