Coimbatore: Judge orders relaxation in conditional bail granted to MLA N. Karthik in Minister defamation case. Kuniamuthur police have registered a case against Karthik MLA of Singanallur constituency for spreading slander about Minister SP Velumani on social media. The court had ordered the MLA, who was granted anticipatory bail and to sign daily in Kuniyamuthur police. Yesterday, the judge issued an order relaxing the condition of signing.
Singanallur DMK MLA Karthik has been accused of spreading slander on social media about Rangarajan director of the 'Alayam Foundation', the construction company in Coimbatore, Kuniyamuthur and Minister Velumani.
Karthik had filed a petition in the Coimbatore District Primary Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail while the Kuniyamuthur police were investigating the case. The judge had ordered him to surrender in the lower court and obtain bail. Accordingly, JM: 7 granted bail following his surrender in court on the 5th. He was required to sign the affidavit daily at the Kuniyamuthur police station until further notice. Accordingly, he came to sign and a petition was filed in the District Sessions Court, seeking to relax the condition. The trial judge relaxed the condition imposed on DMK MLA N. Karthik.
