Coimbatore:Famous idols from various temples across Tamil Nadu were smuggled abroad. Following this, the Tamil Nadu government formed a special team and took steps to fully recover the abducted idols and bring them back to India. But still the idols that emphasized the heritage, culture and religious goodwill, were constantly hidden and stolen.



Police and the Revenue Department were informed todaythat idols were hidden in the Coimbatore Perur pond. Following that they searched the Perur pond and seven idols were found hidden under the pond and they were recovered. Police are investigating who was involved in the incident and why the statues were hidden.
