Naxalite appears in court via video conferencing
Coimbatore: Naxalite Deepak was produced in Coimbatore court through video conferencing and remanded in custody.
Deepak, a Maoist from Odisha, was produced in Coimbatore court via video conferencing. In Kerala, the Maoists were found plotting in the Manjakandi forest near Palakkad. Four Maoists were shot dead in a gun battle when 'Thunderbolt' police went to catch them. Deepak, 32, from Chhattisgarh, who escaped, was arrested on November 9, 2019, while hiding in a hill station in Anaikatti.
Deepak, who was released on bail last June, is lodged in a state jail in Odisha on a warrant issued by the BJP for killing a rapid action force police officer. In the case registered against Deepak he was produced on video conferencing yesterdayfrom the Odisha State Jail when it came up for hearing in the Coimbatore District Sessions Court and the trial was adjourned to March 18.
