Coimbatore: A deputy registrar and his assistant in Pollachi were arrested for attempted bribery. District Deputy Registrar Selvaraj (45) and his assistant Arumugam (45) were arrested for trying to bribe Rs 1.25 lakh.
A complaint was lodged with the Thalavapalayam Anti-Corruption Department Police alleging that a list of beneficiaries involved in loan waivers for farmers had been misrepresented and a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh had been sought to rectify it.
DSP Ganesh along with a team of Inspectors Vijayalakshmi and Arumugam handed over the chemical smeared currencies to the person who filed the complaint. The deputy registrar and assistant who tried to get it were caught red-handed during the undercover raid. This incident has caused a stir in Pollachi.
