The tragedy of a 13-year-old girl who fell into a well while grazing sheep has caused great grief in the locality.
Tirupur: Krishnan hails from Mulanur West near Dharapuram in Tirupur district. His daughter Karthikai Selvi (13) was herding sheep in the garden at Udayampalayam and was playing near the well in that garden.
Unexpectedly the young girl’s stick that she uses to graze the sheep slipped and fell into the well and in an effort to pick up the stick that fell in the well, Karthikai slipped and fell into the well.
When the neighbors heard the screams of the girl, they immediately tried to rescue her but their efforts failed at the water in the well was higher than 30ft. Post this Dharapuram Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the area and tried to recover Karthigai, but the body was trapped in a deep well and the officials rescued the girl after fighting for more than an hour.
