Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers Association protested at Coimbatore District Collectorate premises saying they will not engage in election work until the demands are met.
They have filed a petition at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office seeking cancellation of the new pension scheme and payment of old pensions, as well as improved pay and separate pay for all Revenue Department employees and to fill the vacant office assistant and registration clerk posts in the districts.
More than 12,000 revenue workers across the state are on strike and they said they will continue until the Tamil Nadu government listens to their demands. Later, T Shanmugaraj, Coimbatore district secretary of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers' Association, told reporters that they would boycott the upcoming assembly elections and would not engage in revenue and election work until the demands were met.
