Coimbatore: A protest was held demanding the operation of a passenger train between Coimbatore and Mettupalayam.

The Coimbatore-Mettupalayam passenger train was halted during the Covid-19 pandemic. While most other trains have begun their service, the Modi government has stopped this passenger train service. This service which was mostly used by the poor and common people has impacted the lives of those people.

The protest was held in Karamadai area under the leadership of the General Secretary of the League K. Ramakrishnan. The protestors requested the central Modi government who has abandoned people to immediately begin the operation of the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam passenger train.

More than 50 protestors were arrested for participating in the protest. Cadres of the Tamil Puligal also participated in the demonstration.
