Coimbatore: A businessman from Coimbatore was arrested today for tax evasion. According to the police report, Ramesh Kumar Patel, a businessman from Pollachi, Coimbatore was arrested by the Excise Department and has been charged for causing a loss of Rs 7.69 crore to the state through GST tax evasion.

Officials said that Rs 1.16 crore out of Rs 7.69 crore has been withdrawn from Ramesh Kumar.
Since arrest is a law for tax evasion under 2 crores, Ramesh Kumar is arrested under a non bailable offense as he has evasied more than 2 crores from the government..
