A vegetable and flower market is functioning at the premises of Tirupur Cotton Market. A neem tree is located at the government office premises. People have started worshiping the tree in a belief that milk is coming out from the tree.
Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam filed a petition at the District Collector's Office protesting against the worship of a Neem tree at a place owned by the Tirupur government. “Priests are brought into the premises of the government offices and plans have been taken up to make it a place of worship. This is completely unscientific and should be stopped immediately.” they said.
