Coimbatore: BSNL employees on hunger strike emphasizing various demands at the office premises in Pollachi including the timely payment of monthly salaries to BSNL office workers, to immediately conduct Seventh Pay Commission talks, the immediate payment of arrears of contract employees' salaries, and the removal of the ban on providing employment under the humanity basis.
The hunger strike was led by Gopalan and Ramachandran of the BSNL Employees Union with a welcome address by the union secretary Prabhakaran. District Assistant Secretary Manoharan addressed the gathering. Many BSNL employees took part in the protest.
