Most of the announcements require a timeline of 2 – 3 years to fructify and with elections in next 2 months time, has a subjectivity of continuation of the present ruling government.
Coimbatore: Announcements on Tamilnadu industrial policy are sweet to hear. But additional moratorium for repayment of loan EMIs, abolishment from EB fixed charges are missing in the document says Consortium of Indian Associations, Convenor, KE Raghunathan.
In a press release he said, "The New MSME policy announced today by the government of Tamilnadu has focused on the various needs of New Enterprises coming into Tamilnadu and attracting them to come here. Expectations from the most efficient 4 member team of IAS officers – Rajeev Ranjan, Muruganandam, Mangath Ram and Neeraj Mittal are very high, among the Entrepreneurs, ably guided by the vision from our Hon’ble Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy and Industries Minister in creating Tamil Nadu as a No.1 – “Go To State” in India."
"While certainly we appreciate the various announcements in terms of the creation of Infrastructure, Financial subsidies, Social security support, Employment opportunity creation, Recognition of talents etc, some of the proposed schemes are extension of what is being already offered by Central Government and expectations for supporting ailing MSME who are affected by COVID- 19 situation, such as additional moratorium for repayment of loan EMIs, Stipend for engaging freshers for 6 months, additional loans for those who are not covered under ECGLS scheme of Central Govt, Abolishment from EB fixed charges, property tax, Registration charges for next one year, Setting up of Raw Material Ration Shops at Industrial Parks and Fair price shops for MSMEs, support for marketing and abroad exhibition participation, Ensuring timely payment of dues from the State Govt/SU/Corporate to MSMEs - are missing in this document. Probably, this is a Vision statement for next 5 years and aiming to create a 15% growth rate from Industrialisation."
"It would have been better if we had made 3 categories –
1. Those impacted majorly by COVID
2. Those who are not impacted by COVID
3. Those setting up new enterprises within or from outside Tamilnadu – and addressed the needs of each of them.
Most of the announcements require a timeline of 2 – 3 years to fructify and with elections in next 2 months time, has a subjectivity of continuation of the present ruling government. The announcements are sweet to hear and certainly required steps to make Tamilnadu Industrially No 1, but taking care of existing MSME in Tamilnadu with innovation schemes and support would have been more appreciated.
Immediate Employment opportunities can only come from existing MSME units and it is an absolute requirement to nourish them and support them to withstand the covid impact." It said.
