Coimbatore: Tirupur South MLA Gunasekharan todayinaugurated and handed over a robot which is used to clean the sewage in Tirupur. This new scheme will put an end to Manual Scavenging in Kuppuswamypuram area in Tirupur.
A private company from Kerala designed this robot which weighs about 60 Kgs. The robot has 6 surveillance cameras which will help the user to guide the robot to clean without having to go inside.
This new robot is expected to clean drainage upto a height of 6ft.
MLA Gunasekharan said that "The new robot will be used to clean sewage upto 137km. By this robot, Manual Scavenging in Tirupur will be abolished which will prevent the deaths of sanitation works who are involved in Manual Scavenging." He said
