Coimbatore: Samooga Neethi Katchi Women's wing protest to reclaim enact a separate law to reclaim the Panchami lands and build houses for Arunthathiyar in city and resettle evicted people from the Coimbatore Ukkadam area.

They alleged that places in the Coimbatore area have been largely occupied by private and government officials, and the Rs 23,500 crore allocated by the government to the downtrodden has not reached the people properly. Samooga Neethi Katchi leader N. Panneerselvam told reporters that he did not know what happened to the Rs 1,500 crore allocated to build houses for the downtrodden.

He also said that the Tamil Nadu government should take appropriate action and build houses in the city for the welfare of the sanitary workers who have been evacuated from the city of Coimbatore as it is very difficult for them to come from 25 km away for the sanitary work. He pointed out that in 2006, the former chief minister issued an order to issue a patta to the people living in the poramboke lands and alleged that the ordinance had not been implemented till date.
