Officials from Kerala Anti-Naxal Unit investigate family of 'wanted' Maoist in Angalakurichi near Pollachi; urge to surrender
Pollachi: A team of four officials from Kerala Anti-Naxal Uniton Tuesday held investigation with the family members of 'wanted' maoist Santosh (30) hailing from Angalakuruchi near Pollachi.
Santosh, a resident of Angalakurichi near Pollachi, went missing in May 2014 following which his father, Arjunan lodged a complaint with the Aliyar police. During the investigation, it was revealed that Santosh, who was reported missing, had joined the Maoist movement and was hiding in the Wayanad area of Kerala. Santosh has been linked in more than 30 cases in Kerala and the Kerala State Maoist Prevention Unit police are investigating the cases.
On Tuesday, the Kerala police visitedSantosh's house in Angalakurichi and held investigation with his father Arjunan and his mother Kalaiselvi. According to reports, the parents of the 'wanted' maoist were asked to inform their son to surrender. And, they were also apprised of the legal assistance he could seek in case of surrender. A friend of Santosh was also interrogated over phone, police sources say.
It may be recalled that P. Ganapathy (39) of Pollachi, A. Selvaraj (55) of Sultanpet in Tirupur district and D. Sigamani (27) of Angalakurichi were arrested in 2015 based on a complaint lodged by Santhosh’s father Arjunan in August, 2014 for allegedly brainwashing his son to join the maoist movement.
