Two men from Vettaikaaranpudur near Pollachi arrested for trying to trade elephant tooth
Pollachi: Acting upon a tip-off, officials from Anaimalai forest range arrested two men for reportedly trading a pair of tooth of a dead female elephant in Vettaikaranputhur near Pollachi on Tuesday.
While they were trading the tooth at aclothing store in Puthur area in Vettaikaaranpudur, the forest officials caught Maniyan, a resident of Thambapathi tribal settlement near Sethumadai and Mohanraj, the owner of a clothing store.

According to reports, Maniyan stole the tooth from the carcass of a dead female elephant inside deep jungle area near his tribal settlement. He reportedly traded in with Mohanraj and was caught red-handed while he came to handover the tooth.
Later, the forest department arrested Maniyan and Mohanraj for offence under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. The duo were produced in Pollachi Court and were sent to Coimbatore Central Jail.
